NOTE: We do not accept Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher or Visio Files as Artwork |
Note: Artwork created using vector artwork software such as Freehand, Illustrator, and Corel Draw are typically preferable to bitmap images such as JPEG and GIF files. Please read the following section on Art Criteria for more information.
|
| Art Criteria |
Please review this information before sending
us your electronic art files. |
-
Provide a clearly-defined, black & white or color composite
example of your artwork. PDF files are a good way to convey to us
your expectations to us via email. If you are only able to send a
fax, please mark all color specs clearly.
-
In most cases we like to have the original artwork in it's native
format such as Photoshop (.psd), Illustrator (.ai), or Freehand (.fh8).
-
E-Mailed files should be no larger than 5MB. Consider using a compression
application such as WinZip (Windows) or Stuffit (Mac) to compress
your files before emailing.
-
Convert all of your text to paths. Vector-based applications such
as Freehand and Illustrator contain an option in the Type menu to
convert fonts to paths. If you do this before sending us your artwork,
font conflicts will be avoided. If you send us fonts, please send
both screen and printer fonts for Type1 fonts. Remember to also include
any fonts used in placed graphics, especially EPS files.
-
Remember to include all imported graphics with your original source
file. Avoid using web graphic formats such as JPEG and GIF files when
possible.
-
Bitmap images should be saved as 300ppi CMYK images. If the final
printed product is under 2 inches, please provide a file at twice
the size (200% larger).
About
JPEG and GIF Files
-
JPEG and GIF file formats are very commonplace today, though there are some drawbacks to using these formats for print production.
JPEG and GIF files are typically created for use on web pages or other on-screen applications. Because JPEG format compresses the image data by reducing the number of colors in the file, the quality of the graphic is often inferior to the original artwork. GIF files can contain a maximum of 256 colors which can also greatly affect the quality of the art.
In order to provide you with the best possible reproduction of your logo or artwork, we ask that you provide us with artwork in the format it was originally created in such as Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, Corel Draw, or Adobe Photoshop.
